February 17th 2026 Chennai, Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu Golf Federation (TNGF) proudly announces the
inaugural edition of the Tablets India – TNGF Premier League (TPL) 2026, an exclusive five-week team golf
championship to be held from February 25 to March 25, 2026. Instituted as a members-only competition, the
Tablets India TNGF Premier League marks a significant milestone in the Federation’s continued efforts to elevate
competitive golf in Tamil Nadu while strengthening camaraderie within its vibrant golfing community.
The announcement was made during an official event in the presence of Mr. K.C. Raghunathan, Chairman –
Tablets India TNGF Premier League (TPL), Raamasubramanian – Tournament Director, A. Chandrasekharan
– Tournament Director, K. Sundar – Tournament Director, Babu Dhandapani – Tournament Director and team
owners.
Speaking on the announcement of the league, Mr. K.C. Raghunathan, Chairman of the Tablets India TNGF
Premier League (TPL), stated: “The Tablets India TNGF Premier League has been conceptualized with a clear
vision to bring our golfing community closer through structured team competition while upholding the spirit of
sportsmanship. While team owners contribute financially, the core objective is to deliver a unique, high-quality
sporting experience for every participating member. We envision TPL as a platform that fosters teamwork,
encourages healthy competition, and builds lasting friendships on and off the course. The 2026 edition marks the
beginning of what we believe will become a defining tradition in Tamil Nadu’s golfing calendar.”
The Tablets India TNGF Premier League 2026 is structured as a Team Competition under the Rules of Golf 2023
and will be played in Stroke Play format with Stableford scoring as the operating basis. A total of 12 teams will
compete in the inaugural edition. Each team will comprise 16 players, with two mandatory picks and the remaining
14 players selected through an auction process designed to add strategy and excitement to team formation. All
players must participate in at least one qualifying round during the tournament.
Team composition has been carefully structured to ensure competitive balance across handicap categories. Each
team will include three Category A players with handicaps ranging from 0 to 12, seven Category B players with
handicaps between 13 and 18, and six Category C players with handicaps from 19 to 30. A separate and exclusive
Tournament Committee will oversee the conduct of the event, while the TNGF Office Bearers Committee will serve in
an advisory capacity to ensure adherence to rules and regulations.
The 12 teams competing in the Tablets India TNGF Premier League 2026 are; Amrut Warriors Golf, OB
Express, Madras Eagles, Pentagon Golf Addicts, Chennai Hustlers, Fairway Assassins, Madras Masters,
Team Allsec, 19th Hole Smashers, RSL, Guindy Goondas, and Executive Eagles.
The Tablets India TNGF Premier League 2026 promises five weeks of spirited competition, strategic team play, and
memorable championship moments. As the fairways of Chennai come alive this February and March, TNGF looks
forward to ushering in a new era of team golf that blends excellence, engagement, and enduring sporting values.

Founded in 1996 under the Tamil Nadu Societies Act, the Tamil Nadu Golf Federation operates an 18-hole, par-72
course spanning 6,225 yards, offering a challenging yet accessible layout for golfers of all levels. In 2001, the
Government of Tamil Nadu leased the entire 80-acre golf course land between the Cosmopolitan Club and TNGF to
the Federation, enabling the development of a premier golfing facility in the heart of Chennai.
The club features a comprehensive driving range, dedicated putting and chipping greens, a golf academy, buggy and
caddie services, a pro shop, and a clubhouse with restaurant and bar, along with full-fledged tournament hosting
infrastructure.
TNGF has established itself as a key venue on the national golfing calendar, having hosted the Chennai leg of the
Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) from 2022 to 2025. PGTI has featured over 125 professional golfers from India
and abroad at the Chennai events, significantly boosting Tamil Nadu’s golfing profile.
Beyond elite competition, TNGF nurtures the next generation of golfers through its Junior Academy, which supports
over 40 young players with access to professional coaching, fitness training, and modern equipment. The Federation
is also home to more than 200 expatriate members, contributing to a diverse and internationally connected golfing
community. Approximately 300 caddies earn their livelihood at TNGF, with several having progressed to professional
golf. During the monsoon season, the Federation ensures their welfare through food supplies and financial support,
underscoring its commitment to the broader golfing ecosystem.
TNGF regularly organizes over 20 tournaments and events annually, including exclusive corporate tournaments in
partnership with leading brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz, as well as government and expatriate community
events. The Federation also remains committed to sustainable operations through water-efficient irrigation systems,
an automated sprinkler network, a state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Plant functioning for over two decades and has
planted 1000 trees over a period of time.
