Andharan is a mystery romance thriller that released in theatres on June 26, 2026. Directed by Santhosh Raavanan, the film stars Prajin Padmanabhan (Prajean) and Ivana Varun in the lead roles.

The story centers around Karthika (played by Ivana Varun), a young woman whose life seems cursed by a bizarre and terrifying pattern: every single man her family arranges for her to marry meets a mysterious and untimely death.

As the bodies pile up, the police department intervenes, assigning an intense investigator named Chezhiyan (played by Prajin Padmanabhan) to crack the case. As Chezhiyan digs deeper into Karthika’s past to uncover buried secrets, he unexpectedly finds himself falling in love with her. The core suspense of the second half hinges on whether they will successfully marry, or if Chezhiyan will become the mysterious killer’s next victim.

Performances & Technical Aspects

  • Prajin Padmanabhan (Chezhiyan): Fits the role of a sharp, “tip-top” IPS officer perfectly. He delivers a grounded, commanding performance that anchors the investigative portions of the film.

  • Ivana Varun (Karthika): Carries the emotional weight of the movie well. She shifts easily between a vulnerable woman traumatized by the deaths around her and someone harboring deep-seated secrets.

  • Supporting Cast: Veteran actors like Anupama Kumar and Senthil Kumari provide strong support, lending credibility to the family drama aspect.

  • Music & Visuals: The music score by Hari S.R. effectively elevates the jump scares and tense investigative blocks. The cinematography by Kishore Ramachandran keeps the frames colorful yet moody enough to suit a thriller.

👍 The Highs

  • Thrill Factor: The overarching hook—knowing that anyone who loves the heroine dies—creates an organic sense of dread and tension that keeps the audience hooked.

  • Pacing: For the most part, it functions as an engaging slow-burn that gradually accelerates into a gripping cat-and-mouse game.

  • Social Message: The film wraps up its unpredictable climax with a relevant social message that adds substance to the mystery.

Andharan is a neatly packaged, suspense-filled romantic thriller. If you enjoy investigative cop dramas with a heavy dose of family mystery and emotional stakes, it makes for an engaging theatrical watch.
