The Good Deeds Club’s Glow Carnival: Where Glamour Meets Giving
Curated by journalist and social activist Ms. Apsara Reddy, the Good Deeds Club (GDC) has quickly emerged as one of Chennai’s most dynamic women’s collectives — one that beautifully blends purpose with panache. Founded on the principle that charity must be woven into the fabric of everyday life, GDC hosts inspiring monthly events that bring together entrepreneurs, achievers, and changemakers under one empowering platform. Each initiative of the club underscores compassion, community, and collective responsibility — from funding education and healthcare projects to providing dignified livelihoods for women in need.
The debut edition of GDC Glow Carnival, held at ITC Grand Chola, showcased an extraordinary curation of women-led businesses and brands with women in leadership roles — spanning fashion, décor, wellness, art, and gourmet experiences. Beyond the festive sparkle, however, lies a strong humanitarian mission: the proceeds from the Glow Carnival will go towards constructing permanent flower stalls outside temples for women who currently sell flowers on pavements, often exposed to the elements and vulnerable to exploitation. These permanent structures will provide them not only with physical security but also a sense of ownership, dignity, and safety in their daily lives.
“The Glow Carnival is not just about shopping or celebration; it’s about creating sustainable impact,” said Ms. Apsara Reddy, adding, “Our goal is to transform acts of goodwill into lasting change — where every purchase made today plants the seed for someone’s better tomorrow.” Inaugurated by Shalini Ajith and Dr J Radhakrishnan IAS and Mrs Krithika Radhakrishnan the event set benchmarks in terms of quality of curation of retail expo and with the philanthropy.
