GTB Developers Receives World Trade Center Licence fior Chengalpattu, Plans ₹7,000 Crore IT-Integrated Township
100–150 acre development to be delivered in phases over ten years; company also exploring a public-private partnership for a 500-acre industrial World Trade Center in Kanchipuram
Chennai, November 5, 2026: GTB Developers (GT Bharathi Urban Developers Pvt Ltd) today announced that it has been granted a licence by the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) to develop World Trade Center Chengalpattu. The announcement was made at a press conference in Chennai attended by a WTCA delegation led by Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific, and the leadership of GTB Developers.
WTC Chengalpattu is planned as an IT-integrated township of 100 to 150 acres, rather than an industrial estate. The project has an estimated value of ₹7,000 crore and will be developed in phases over approximately ten years.
The proposed masterplan includes Commercial and IT office space, Hospitality, Residences, An education zone, Data centre capacity
GTB is at an advanced stage of identifying and securing land for the project, and expects plans to crystallise within six months to a year.
Chengalpattu district sits on Chennai’s southern growth corridor, alongside Mahindra World City, the Oragadam and Maraimalai Nagar automotive clusters and the Siruseri IT corridor, with road links to Chennai’s ports and airport. GTB and WTCA see the district as the next major growth centre of the Chennai region.

As a WTCA licensee, GTB joins a network of more than 300 World Trade Centers across nearly 100 cities and territories, including around 40 in India.
GTB intends to use the WTC brand and this network in three ways:
Occupiers: reaching domestic and international businesses through WTC members and their trade services
Partners: working with other WTC owners and their partners in India and abroad on development, operations and programming
Investment: drawing on the financial and investment relationships available within the network as the project is phased in
For businesses in Chengalpattu, WTC Chengalpattu will also offer a single platform for trade services, international market access and business partnerships.

GTB is also pursuing a second World Trade Center development in Kanchipuram district, proposed across approximately 500 acres. Unlike Chengalpattu, it is envisaged as an industrial World Trade Center, with manufacturing and data centre zones alongside infrastructure, education and hospitality.
GTB intends to explore the project under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, one of the structures under which World Trade Centers are developed globally. The company is approaching the Government of Tamil Nadu to participate as a partner, including through the contribution or allotment of land and supporting policy measures.
Bharat Kanti Doshi, Chairman, GTB Developers, said: “The GT Group has been building in Chennai since 1967, and together with Bharathi Homes we have spent years delivering homes, institutions and infrastructure across the city. Joining the World Trade Centers Association adds something no developer can build alone: a network of WTC owners, partners and investors across India and the world. That network will help us bring the right occupiers, partners and capital to Chengalpattu, the next growth district of Chennai, and deliver the kind of development the region needs.”
Arun Bharathi Arunachalam, Managing Director, GTB Developers, said: “WTC Chengalpattu is a ₹7,000 crore project that we will deliver in phases over the next ten years. It is an IT-integrated township, not an industrial park, bringing offices, hospitality, residences, education and data centre capacity together in one place. It will create employment across construction, technology, hospitality and services. We are at an advanced stage of securing land and expect the project to crystallise within six months to a year.”
On Kanchipuram, he added: “We are proposing a 500-acre industrial World Trade Center in Kanchipuram and are inviting the state government to partner with us under a PPP model. With government participation on land and policy, that project could take shape within six to twelve months. Our timeline there will depend on the government’s response.”
Scott Wang, Vice President, Asia Pacific, World Trade Centers Association, said: “We are pleased to welcome GTB Developers to the World Trade Centers Association network.
GTB met the criteria we apply to every licensee, and its plan reflects Chengalpattu’s position as the next growth district of the Chennai region. We look forward to working closely with the GTB team as the project progresses, and to connecting WTC ChengalpattU with OUr members in India and arOUnd the wOrld.”
