This has made Ramada Plaza Chennai the ultimate destination for celebrations in the city. The joyous occasion of Cake Mixing Ceremony was commemorated on 3rd December, 2017 by the General Manager of Ramada Plaza Chennai Mr. Sandeep Bhatnagar and prominent chefs of The Coffee Place along with the consulates, socialites and the top dignitaries of the city. The Cake Mixing Ceremony is believed to have originated in the 17th century. It was practiced in traditional Christian households, indicating the arrival of the harvest season. During this time fruits and nuts are harvested and prepared to go into the making of the traditional Christmas Plum Cake. A part of the mix was saved up for the next harvest season with the hope that the following year would also bring forth another abundant harvest. Cake mixing however, is poles apart from cake baking which happens many days after the mixing process. It is a kind of pickling process during which the mixed ingredients are allowed to marinate in the juices, spirits and beverages before baking can begin. Our guests were handed over chef caps, aprons and gloves and they were invited to put all the fruits on the mixing tray. They loved mixing all the ingredients together by hand, tasting in-between for their own check of approval before mixing it all together! All were in the mood to celebrate & Ramada Plaza Chennai graciously celebrated the Cake Mixing Ceremony. It marked an eventful kickstart to the joyous festivities of the Christmas season.
